Description

The Youth Engagement and Workshop Facilitator at ABARKA ONGD will organize and lead educational workshops for children, teenagers, and youth, focusing on dance, art, games, non-formal education, and cultural exchange. They will collaborate with local organizations like Don Bosco and city councils, support Erasmus+ activities promoting inclusion and active citizenship, and encourage youth participation in European initiatives. Additionally, they will assist women in the Female Entrepreneurship Project EGG with social media management, create content for platforms like Facebook and Instagram, and collaborate with schools and cultural centers to enhance community activities. Administrative tasks include event organization, material preparation, and project documentation.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will stay in shared accommodation in Oiartzun (10-15 min to work, 18 min to city center). The house has Wi-Fi, heating, kitchen, washing machine, and bike access to San Sebastian (10km) and Irun (12km). A bus stop and supermarket are 15 min away. Monthly allowance: €180 for meals, €180 pocket money, €30 transport, totaling €390. Travel costs are reimbursed based on distance: €211 (100-499km), €309 (500-1,999km), €396 (2,000-2,999km), €580 (3,000-3,999km), €1,188 (4,000-7,999km).

Training during the activity

• Pre-Departure Training: Volunteers will receive training on intercultural communication, project management, and safety measures. • On-Site Training: Workshops on non-formal education, youth engagement, social media management and digital tools used by ABARKA. • Workshops on personal development, leadership, and teamwork.

Participant profile

Participant Profile The ideal participant for this role will embrace a dynamic and flexible daily schedule, dedicating 5 hours each weekday (Monday to Friday) to their responsibilities. Additionally, they will spend about 2 hours daily on personal projects and language learning, fostering both professional and personal growth. Weekends are generally free, though occasional weekend activities may be required, with any extra time compensated by additional days off. Eligibility & Skills Candidates must possess proficiency in both English and Spanish, along with a strong skill set in social media management and digital literacy, including familiarity with tools like Canva and social media dashboards. Experience in organizing free-time activities and educational workshops is essential, as are strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to thrive in a multicultural environment is a must. Preferred qualifications include experience in conducting workshops (e.g., dance, games, art, non-formal education, cultural activities), working with children, teenagers, and young people, and a genuine interest in social inclusion, youth empowerment, and community development. Learning & Development Each volunteer will be paired with a dedicated mentor from ABARKA’s team, offering guidance and support throughout the project. Mentors will assist in both personal and professional development, helping volunteers achieve their learning goals through regular one-on-one meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and aspirations. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to design and implement their own projects, aligned with ABARKA’s mission and ESC objectives, with access to resources and support to bring their ideas to life. Community Engagement & Impact Volunteers will play a pivotal role in advancing ABARKA’s goals of promoting social inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and youth empowerment. By organizing workshops and engaging with young people, they will address pressing societal challenges such as unemployment, discrimination, and social exclusion. This experience will not only allow volunteers to make a meaningful impact on the local community but also equip them with valuable skills in project management, workshop facilitation, and intercultural communication, fostering both personal and professional growth. Application & Selection Process Interested candidates are required to submit a 1-minute video recording alongside their CV and a motivation letter detailing their interest in the role and relevant experience. Applications must also be submitted through the ESC portal, and candidates are encouraged to provide references from previous educational, volunteering, or professional experiences. The selection committee will evaluate applications based on alignment with ABARKA’s mission, demonstrated experience in social media management and community engagement, and the candidate’s motivation and commitment to contributing to the local community. The selection process involves three stages: an initial screening to ensure eligibility, an online interview for shortlisted candidates to discuss their skills and motivation, and final selection.
