SJ/ESC75 - Building an international and green village in winter time
SOLIDARITES JEUNESSES MCP
Association Vir'Volt Délégation régionale de Solidarités Jeunesses
La Ferté-Alais, France
Description
Vir'Volt stands for InteRnational VolunTeer Village (in French). Since 10 years, the organisation has located right in the middle of nature, near a regional park. Hosting youth from all around the world, learning how to understand and appreciate differences. To plan and act together to protect the environment. To create a positive impact on the surrounding environment and the living there or simply passing by. These are our goals for this future village, which each year, is built thanks to youths who come and contribute, with solidarity as their driving force. Vir'Volt also aims to become fully eco-friendly and sustainable, which is reflected in our campsite: yurts and teepees as rooms, permaculture farming and gardening, water-saving projects, reducing and reusing waste. This small village will become great without sacrificing or damaging the surrounding environment whilst always searching for better and more eco-friendly ways of living.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You’ll be staying in a construction village in shared tents (like yurts, tepees) throughout the winter. Don’t forget to bring a suitable sleeping bag and warm clothing, as it will be cold and the nights can be chilly. The campsite has separate bathrooms and showers, as well as a kitchen area. Food will be provided and cooked by the volunteers in turns.
Training during the activity
During this Workcamp, you will be working on various projects at the association's site alongside international and local volunteers. You'll help develop the eco-village by building wooden furniture (pallets and simple woodworking), creating compost bins for outdoor spaces, and setting up the solar shower on site. This winter project will be a challenge since it takes place outdoors in unheated areas and under winter conditions (cold and windy). However, you’ll feel great knowing you’re actively contributing to the construction of a unique eco-village and leaving your mark!
