Thomastown Community Kindergarten
Thomastown Kindergarten Ltd
THOMASTOWN, Ireland
Description
Thomastown Community Kindergarten is a centre of excellence in childcare and family support, with high quality care, pre-school education for 2.5yrs - 6-year-olds in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny. We follow a Steiner Waldorf approach to Early Childhood where we guide each child to learn and develop as an individual, providing a stimulating, broad and happy environment to do so. We let the child use their time to play, explore and follow their imagination using a wide range of natural and open-ended materials as well as teacher-led activities. By hosting ESC volunteers, our objectives will be to ensure our volunteers have a positive experience at the project, their learning is maximised and facilitated by the project and at the end of their placement they will have increased their awareness of their role as a European citizen and their employability. The ESC programme objectives of fostering solidarity, environmental protection, digital transition and inclusivity will be to the fore.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation is self-catering in a house, sharing with another volunteer, adjacent to the house owners (a lovely couple with two young children). It is a very comfortable house. Volunteers will have their own bedroom. They will get an allowance for food. Rent and utility bills will be paid. The Kindergarten is within walking distance of the accommodation 20-25 minutes. Bikes will be provided.
Training during the activity
Training will be hands on - initially shadowing a member of staff. Some pre-arrival reading will be necessary to get familiar with the childcare sector in Ireland. Following this, it is hoped the volunteer will avail of other training opportunities that arise. On arrival and mid way training provided by our National Agency will be available too.
