Description
We offer a summer agri/cultural volunteering project on the organic farm in Jurovski Dol, Slovenia for THREE VOLUNTEERS. At our farm, we combine farming with youth work, arts, and social engagement. The main activities of the volunteering project will mostly consist of taking care for the farm through the warm season. While with us, you will deal with traditional meadow orchard, lavender field, vineyard, and a small garden. Besides that, you will meet our animals, hens, ducks, mini sheep, and you will be introduced into their daily care. During your stay, you will also be responsible for the Library under the Treetops, opened to the public four days a week. If you want a good, practical and communicative introduction to organic farming, agroecology and eco-activism in global perspective, with practical introduction to fruit growing, herbs, wine making and basic gardening: you’re in the right place! Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
All 3 volunteers will live in the rural village of Jurovski Dol on the property of Zelena centrala in the independent 3-rooms flat. The flat has its own kitchen with the direct exit to the vast terrace, a bathroom with washing machine and different options for the arrangement of beds. During the summer also possible options of sleeping in tents. We provide 100% organic food for lunch, you take care for your breakfast&dinner (we supply 100% organic&local). Regular buses to Maribor depart 500m from the farm. Bikes are provided.

How to manage the farm in the summer to reach the harvest of all planted fruits (due to the climate change, the success is not guaranteed). How to harvest the lavender and make the essential oil. Management of the crisis situations (hail, winds, floods, draught). Regular excursions to see and support other "good practices" at organic farms in surroundings. Professional mentorship with creative writing and storytelling. Natural construction with earth. , Practical and communicative introduction to organic farming, agroecology and eco-activism in global perspective.
Profil du participant
We're looking for active, engaged and curious persons, who like to share and live in a community. Are you interested in concrete practices of sustainable living, preservation of nature and food production? The obstacles are only the additional incentives for your creativity, and you are not afraid of physical work outdoors - meaning also adapting to the unpredictable summer weather conditions? Do you like storytelling, writing and community events? You should not be afraid of animals (like hens, bees, mini sheep), nature, team work, and of living in a rural place, away from the city comforts.
