Please note: This volunteering opportunity is only possible if you have an accommodation in Berlin during your volunteering. „HeldInnen Raum“ at Forum Kreuzberg is searching for 1 volunteer to work at a children and youth center in Berlin. The goal of the work is to enable children (6-13 years) from different backgrounds to spend quality time. During the ESC, the volunteer will learn about different facets of youth work. He/she will participate in team consultations, internal and external meetings and professional trainings. The volunteer will work in a team and be responsible for certain tasks. It is possible to choose a project on which he/she can focus referring to his/her interests and talents. These projects could be: creative offers of any kind, music-pedagogical or other projects for example recycling and upcycling-projects, or projects about earth, water, air. The main task is to provide leisure time offers such as cultural activities, arts and creative workshops and sports.
Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
Accommodation: This volunteering opportunity is only possible if you have an accommodation where you can stay during your volunteering in Berlin. VJF can pay you an allowance for acccommodation. Food: Money for food will be provided on a monthly basis (9,60€ per day). Pocket money: will be provided on a monthly basis (6,00€ per day). Local Transport: The volunteer will receive a monthly ticket for public transportation in Berlin. Please mention in your motivation statement that you have an accommodation in Berlin where you can stay during your volunteering!
Formation pendant l’activité
The volunteer is going to receive support and information before the start of their service. In Germany, he/she is going to participate in mandatory seminars. This way we are ensuring that the volunteer is enabled to make the most of his/her time and has the chance for rapid personal development. At the youth center the volunteer is going to be assigned a mentor to help. Another person, working for the VJF, is helping out with bureaucratical hurdles and problems that may be occurring in the working environment.
Profil du participant
It is an advantage to have basic knowledge of German, good skills in spoken English. Some experience in work with children are recommended. Experience with disabled children would be nice, but not necessary. It is required a teamwork spirit and the ability to work independently. The youth center welcomes motivated, flexible, friendly, curious, self-confident volunteers with good communication skills and a sense of humor. Gender, religion, political and sexual orientation are not considered in the selection, volunteers are chosen regarding their abilities, experiences, interests and motivation.
