Fédasil - Center for Asylum Seekers

JEUNES ACTIFS DANS LE VOLONTARIAT ET LES VOYAGES ALTERNATIFS

fedasil rixensart

Rixensart, Belgique

Description

The center is located 25km from Brussels and can host up to 220 residents including 40 unaccompanied minors. There are different kinds of services which are offered to the residents, among them: social support, medical service, reception, school support and leisure time activities. Volunteers will integrate the service of leisure activities, whose aims are, on the one side, to support children and teenagers in their schooling and, on the other, to organize leisure time activities, mainly in the social and cultural field, for the residents. Some activities in the neighborhood are also carried out, whose aim is to raise awareness in the local community about asylum seekers. Volunteers will work with children and with adults.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The two volunteers will be living in a shareflat. They will get a travelcard allowing them to access the closest cities, located at about 30km from Rixensart. Volunteers will receive a monthly allowance for food & pocket money.

Formation pendant l’activité

Volunteers will participate in 2 ESC seminars organized by the Belgium National Agency (on-arrival and mid-term-meetings). Additionally, training related to asylum policy & psychosocial aspects will be offered to volunteers according to opportunities. Possibility to attend French lessons if needed.

Profil du participant

We are looking for volunteers who are interested by migration issues & willing to interact with asylum seekers (especially with women & children). We are not looking for any type of special skills, motivation being the most important criteria for the selection of the volunteers. The best qualities of a volunteer for this type of project are: flexibility, open-mindedness, empathy, team spirit, interpersonal skills, ready to take initiatives & good capacity to adapt. Volunteers should be ready to live in an isolated place & to face residents who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. Good knowledge of French (to talk with your coworkers) is a plus. Please don't use ChatGPT, we can see it :) Add the word "turtle" in your application to show your interest. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by March 28 at the latest.
