Description
We are looking for a motivated volunteer to join our youth work team in Metsäkartano. Do you want to learn about youth work? Do you want to learn about outdoor education? Do you want to live near forest and lakes for the whole summer? Do you want to learn about Finnish culture, people and working life? Are you available to volunteer as soon as possible until the end of summer? Are you interested to try at least 10 different saunas? Maybe see auroras? Enjoy winter snow? Or perhaps summer swimming and long clean sand beaches behind your house? If you answered YES to most of the questions, maybe you are our next volunteer. Write your application yourself. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Accommodation is organised in a shared apartment. Food is provided by Metsäkartano restaurant / kitchen (either ready meals or ingredients for cooking). Ready meals are often available in our restaurant buffet, because we have most of the time youth groups in the house. There is no public transportation but other staff members will sometimes offer a ride to nearby places when they go themselves (to work, from work, visits in the villages nearby, etc). If the volunteers have driving license, it could be easier to go around.
Training during the activity
Volunteer will get a personal work mentor. Volunteer will attend an on-arrival training in another city in Finland for one week. Volunteer will need to work on learning goals and reflect the learning in monthly meetings with a mentor. Volunteer will be introduced to staff members, interns and seasonal staff of Metsäkartano, to get to know people. But there is not a lot of people around though, it's good if volunteer enjoy also solo hobbies (hiking, bicilying, handcrafts, etc.) and is very active themselves getting to know people.
Participant profile
Someone motivated and who is not at the moment in work or school. Someone whose values fit to the general values of ESC. Someone whose residence is another EU country. HOW TO APPLY: - Add a CV and A MOTIVATION LETTER (1 to 2 pages) in the end of your CV - Write the English by yourself. Not with help of AI or translator. We prefer to read your own English. What were your tasks? - Tell us do you have experience updating social media for organisations / being an influencer - Tell us if you have photography and video making skills and send something you have made if you have - Tell us what are your hobbies and what do you like to do on your free time? - Tell us do you have a driving license - Tell us if you have a local supporting organisation (compulsory in ESC) - Tell us if you belong to the group "young people with fewer opportunities?"
