Summer camp at Zsendülő

Egyesek Ifjúsági Egyesület

Budapest, Hungary

Description

The Kesztyűgyár Community House in Budapest’s Józsefváros district has been serving the local community since 2008. Within this space, Zsendülő Tanoda was founded in 2019 to support the development of highly disadvantaged elementary school children. Through a child-centered, play-based approach, it offers extracurricular learning and recreational activities to foster both academic and personal growth. Join the Zsendülő Tanoda summer camp and help create meaningful experiences for children aged 6 to 14! As a volunteer, you’ll engage in fun, confidence-boosting activities like music, sports, crafts, and cooking from 12:30 to 18:00. The camp runs in the afternoons unless special programs take place. Volunteers should be enthusiastic about leading activities and creating a safe, inspiring space where children can learn, play, and grow. Your presence and participation will make a real difference in their lives! More info: https://egyesek.hu/en/volunteering/zsendulo-en

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

All volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms in Budapest in a dormitory. We provide three meals a day (hot meals for lunch and dinner), with a vegetarian option available. Each volunteer will also receive €7 per day as pocket money. Travel costs to the project location will be reimbursed based on the distance after participation. All necessary equipment for the tasks will be provided.

Training during the activity

From Friday till Sunday an orientation training (movement, sports and games and facilitation skills) will be provided by an experienced Egyesek staff member. This will be followed by mentoring sessions to support the learning and professional development of you. In the institution school staff will provide further support if required. Participant profile

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are empathetic, patient, and have experience or interest in teaching children and teenagers. Strong communication skills are essential—even nonverbal communication—along with the ability to connect easily with different age groups. This camp is especially ideal for those who have worked with children before or are looking to gain experience in this field.
