Description
Zambia faces numerous disasters, such as droughts, floods, and pandemics—primarily cholera—as well as human-induced crises such as pollution and economic shocks. Many of these challenges are driven by climate change, disproportionately affecting children, women, people with disabilities, and youth. ADRA Zambia supports over 20,000 people annually through programs in health, education, agriculture, and economic empowerment. The organization collaborates with communities to raise awareness about climate-related risks and promote disaster risk reduction. This includes prevention initiatives, capacity building for families and communities, and encouraging behavioral changes to mitigate disaster risks. You will be expected to: - Participate staff meetings; - Do context analysis; - Go in the field and interact with communities; - Participate in Awareness raising activities like meetings, workshops and roadshows; - Participate in needs assessments and surveys; Write reports.
Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
ADRA will provide you with comfortable, furnished, and secure accommodation in Lusaka, close to the office. Zambians are known for their friendliness and hospitality and speak English and Chinyanja. A monthly allowance of 430€ will be provided to cover your meals and local transportation. Transportation is by road using commuter taxis, with easy access to several shopping malls. While carrying out your duties, you will share transport with the ADRA team, and if field visits are necessary, accommodation will also be arranged. Health insurance will be provided through Henner.
Formation pendant l’activité
You will attend online pre-departure training to prepare for the opportunity, as well as on-arrival training (security, basic language, activity requirements/expectations), which will introduce you to the host country teams. You will also have several learning opportunities depending on your own motivation and development needs, such as Risk Communication and Community Engagement Strategy. You will create your Learning and Development plan at the beginning and follow it throughout your entire stay ----THE INTERVIEW IS CONDUCTED ON A ROLLING BASIS----
Profil du participant
You should hold a university or college degree in one of the following fields: Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Social Work, Development Studies, or Climate Action. Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication and interactive abilities, are preffered. You should also be able to read and write basic English, be computer literate, and have a genuine interest in community work. Additionally, you should be open to integrating into diverse cultures and eager to learn.
