Solidarity track - Binario Solidale

CENTRO DI SERVIZIO PER IL VOLONTARIATO BRESCIA - ETS

Circolo Acli Calvisano APS

Calvisano (Brescia), Italy

Description

“Binario Solidale” is a European Solidarity Corps project hosted by Circolo ACLI Calvisano APS. The project promotes social inclusion, sustainability, and active community engagement in a rural context, with a strong focus on educational and creative activities for children and young people. Volunteers will support after-school programs, outdoor games, creative workshops, and informal learning activities for children, both within the organization and in local schools. They will also contribute to the maintenance of the educational garden, help organize intercultural events (such as clay workshops, board game nights, movie nights, and English-language aperitifs), and take part in community initiatives. They also support communication activities like social media management, video editing, and flyers. Volunteers are fully integrated into the organization, receiving continuous mentorship and training, and developing skills in education, creativity, communication, and community work.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The "Binario Solidale" project in Calvisano provides volunteers with comfortable accommodation in a fully renovated apartment (renovated in 2024), featuring spacious rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a relaxation area with Wi-Fi. Volunteers will be responsible for managing their own meals and will receive a monthly allowance to cover food expenses. Upon arrival, they will be introduced to nearby supermarkets and given tips on finding the freshest products. For local transportation, bicycles are available, and the nearby train station offers a direct connection to Brescia in just 30 minutes.

Training during the activity

During the “Binario Solidale” project, volunteers will receive structured training to enhance their personal and professional skills. The program begins with an orientation introducing them to daily activities, the local community, and project goals. Ongoing mentorship from experienced tutors will provide guidance, feedback, and hands-on advice, helping volunteers develop teamwork, communication, and event management skills while ensuring a meaningful and enriching experience.

Participant profile

We are looking for volunteers with at least a basic knowledge of Italian, which will help them integrate into the rural context of Calvisano. Their language skills will be further supported and strengthened through dedicated language courses. Most of the activities will involve working with children, through educational workshops, outdoor activities, and moments of informal learning. For this reason, we especially welcome volunteers who enjoy spending time with children, are patient, creative, and interested in supporting their growth in a playful and inclusive environment. An interest in gardening is appreciated, as volunteers will also contribute to activities in the educational garden together with children. Flexibility, teamwork, and a willingness to engage with the local community are essential. This experience offers opportunities for personal growth, cultural exchange, and the chance to actively support social and environmental initiatives.
