Description
CPMGA (Centro de Promoción de la Mujer Gregoria Apaza) is a feminist organization with over 40 years of experience promoting women's rights. The volunteer will be involved in activities related to institutional communication and the promotion of women's rights, supporting the implementation of CPMGA’s Feminist Communication Strategy. They will assist in organizing, writing and editing content for the Contextarias newspaper; promoting digital activism among youth and women, organizing mobilization actions and emblematic campaigns; promoting, covering and documenting CPMGA events and activities; updating content for the institutional website and social media; creating presentation materials of CPMGA’s work; systematizing the results of training aimed at women survivors of violence or involved in its prevention; monitoring of communication activities. The main location for the activities will be CPMGA’s office in El Alto, with a weekly commitment of 30-40 hrs excluding travel time.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The accommodation will be shared with other volunteers, each having a private room with a lock. Utilities (water, gas, electricity, internet) are included. It is in a residential area of La Paz, which facilitates travel to the city of El Alto and ensures safety during the stay, while providing easy access to medical services, food and other essential services. La Paz is a vibrant and culturally rich city, offering numerous recreational spaces, traditional markets, restaurants. The office in El Alto can be reached by cable car or buses, with an approximate travel time of one hour.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will learn about communication work with a feminist and women’s rights approach, participating in the development of multimedia broadcast programs and activities carried out by women who are part of CPMGA. They will understand how a Bolivian feminist organization operates, including its methodologies and practices. Semi-annual online meetings with other project volunteers are planned as training spaces to share experiences, challenges and best practices. Access will be provided to platforms such as OLS, GOT and SALTO. All competencies will be certified with the Youthpass.
Participant profile
A person who shares feminism as a philosophy and life policy, values of justice and solidarity, and who directs their actions towards women’s rights and the prevention of gender-based violence. Preferably with training or experience in areas related to Communication, media management, or other related fields such as graphic design, text editing and proofreading, journalistic writing, and photography. Knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is required, with preferred specialization in Human Rights and/or Gender. Flexibility, adaptability, teamwork skills, and a volunteer spirit are also required. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
