Description

Since 2003, MdM has focused on the accessibility and quality of the healthcare system, the fight against gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health, with an approach based on human rights, particularly with regard to women and vulnerable populations. Main tasks: - Contribute to the supervision of the various Primary Health Posts in the Kedougou district in the areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Health Centres, particularly in the area of maternal health, in accordance with national guidelines. - Helping to identify health needs and assessments in the areas of intervention and in equipping the public health centre. - Developing baseline health and social health indicators. - Designing and developing training courses for health workers in public health facilities, community health workers and traditional birth attendants, based on previously identified needs.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The work will take place at the MdM Dakar office, with some travel to Kedougou. The volunteer will be accommodated in the organisation's guest house. A driver will be available at all times for emergencies and any necessary movements to ensure the volunteer's well-being. The volunteer will receive a monthly per diem of 568€ to cover their food and other expenses. MdM will pay for the return plane ticket from the country of origin to the place of work, vaccinations, visas, etc. required before departure, travel insurance and expenses during the training in Madrid before deployment in the field.

- Acquire know-how and interpersonal skills in a different cultural context and with different communities. - Improve volunteers' knowledge of health problems in vulnerable contexts and intervention strategies. - Understand the importance of community intervention in public health projects. - Enrich themselves both professionally and personally through exchanges with the local MDM team. - Exercising responsibilities, evaluating and asserting your skills. Volunteers will improve their knowledge through trainings in humanitarian action, and specific issues on security, gender, human rights.

Profil du participant

Degree and experience as a nurse or midwife. Knowledge of human rights, gender, public health and sexual and reproductive health. Ability to work independently. Flexibility, dynamism, proactivity and adaptability. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to run training courses and workshops. Experience in the international development sector. Identification with Médicos del Mundo's areas of work, values and mission. Experience or additional training in strategy definition, project formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and capitalisation (an asset). Gender, human rights. Training in public health would be an asset. Contextual knowledge (Senegal, Sahel) is an asset. Pack Office (Word, Excel and Internet). Fluent French essential. Eligibility : Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
