SOCIAL VOLUNTEERING IN BAGES COUNTY – YOUTH WORK IN SMALL MUNICIPALITIES

Description

The focus is on the inclusion and empowerment of teenagers and young people through non-formal education. The ESC volunteer will support youth professionals in several towns across the region (with fewer than 10,000 inhabitants): Sant Fruitós de Bages, Súria, Sallent, Artés and Avinyó. The main objective is to engage vulnerable young people with local youth services and promote the feminisation of public and leisure spaces, some of which are currently male-dominated. 1. Supporting youth workers in open-air leisure activities, games, events, and prevention campaigns in parks, streets and town squares. 2. School-based information and outreach 3. Support during local leisure events – Helping with concerts, workshops and youth festivals 4. Promotion of youth resources – Supporting the visibility and accessibility of youth services among groups who are harder to reach (young people with fewer opportunities, newcomers, girls and young women..)

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will live in a shared apartment in Manresa. Each volunteer has their own private bedroom and shares the kitchen, bathroom, and living room with two other European volunteers participating in different local projects. ALLOWANCE: • Food allowance: 150 €/month • Pocket money: 180 €/month

Training during the activity

The volunteer will attend courses of Catalan language at the CPNL to support their integration and daily communication. They will also attend on-arrival and mid-term training sessions organized by the Spanish National Agency (ANE), offering tools for intercultural learning, networking, and project reflection. Regular mentoring and local support will help develop personal and professional competences throughout the experience.

Participant profile

We’re looking for someone who is: • Open-minded and motivated • Interested in non-formal education for children, teens, and young adults • Passionate about social inclusion and creative community work • Flexible and ready to engage with diverse youth backgrounds • Willing to learn/able to speak Spanish or Catalan to interact meaningfully with the community
