Building a Sustainable Future

Interpreta Natura

ALZIRA, Espagne

Description

Interpreta Natura invites 12 young Europeans to join a 14-day volunteer camp in the Natural Park of Les Rodanes (Valencia, Spain), staying at the Bassa Barreta municipal hostel. The project combines hands-on work, learning, and reflection to reconnect with nature and promote sustainability. Volunteers will help maintain a pond to preserve biodiversity, build a handcrafted reed roof using ancestral techniques, restore dry-stone walls damaged by the DANA floods of 2024, and support basic masonry tasks at the hostel. They will also contribute to maintaining the signposts of official hiking trails. Throughout the camp, participants will take part in debates on environmental awareness, ethical dilemmas, and how to build a sustainable future together. Community life is a key part of the experience, with daily shared tasks, team-building activities, and cultural exchange.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Volunteers will stay at Bassa Barreta hostel in Les Rodanes Natural Park, sharing 4-bed rooms with lockers, common bathrooms, a kitchen, and a large living room. Interpreta Natura provides meals from Monday to Friday. Travel costs (round trip) will be reimbursed at the end of the project, and pocket money will be given every Friday. Volunteers will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with weekends free to rest, explore Valencia, or enjoy the surrounding nature.

Formation pendant l’activité

Volunteers will receive on-site training to carry out tasks safely and effectively, including guidance on sustainable construction, dry-stone wall restoration, biodiversity conservation, and basic masonry. They will also take part in workshops and group dynamics to strengthen teamwork, cultural exchange, and environmental awareness. Continuous mentoring will be provided by Interpreta Natura staff to support both personal development and learning throughout the project.

Profil du participant

We are looking for motivated young people (18–30 years old) interested in nature, sustainability, and cultural exchange. No previous experience is required, but participants should be open-minded, adaptable, and willing to work both outdoors and in a team. Tasks may involve physical activity such as construction, gardening, or maintenance, so a positive attitude and readiness to learn are essential. Enthusiasm for intercultural dialogue and environmental protection will be highly valued.
