Description
IMPORTANT: Only applications through the portal will be considered. Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen is an NGO that defends the rights of asylum seekers and refugees in Belgium. The selected participant will contribute to the implementation of the Startpunt project, with the support of the Startpunt and protection teams. They will take on the role of Legal information volunteer, helping to ensure people on the move receive accurate information and support throughout their journey. Main tasks will include: - Provide information to applicants for international protection at the registration centre for asylum seekers and Legal helpdesk - Coordinate volunteers during the activities - Coordinate and conduct the trainings and information sessions of volunteers and ensure that the information given to asylum seekers are updated. - Co-monitor the situation on the outreach activities - Data collection and preparation of monthly and quarterly activities report.
Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
The volunteer receives €1095/month for organisational support (housing and food) plus €182,50/month for personal expenses. They may choose their own accommodation; many stay in Brussels and the office is located only a 5-minute metro ride from the historic centre of Brussels. Vluchtelingenwerk Vlaanderen will support by sharing relevant housing sources & visits if needed, covering home-to-office travel, and managing the single permit application.
Formation pendant l’activité
At the start, intercultural training will be part of the training organised by JINT. Intercultural encounters being essential in the project, it will remain a subject in feedback sessions and evaluations. Internal training is being periodically set up to keep staff and volunteers steady on track with these regulations. Every new staff member and volunteers receive an introduction training and folder with essential information on the organization (mission, vision, workplace rules...) More training can be provided and organised by Vluchtelingenwerk or external organisations during the year.
Profil du participant
Educational background in Law, Human Rights, Social Sciences, or a related field Strong commitment to human rights and refugee support Understanding of the situation of asylum seekers and refugees, including the role of humanitarian and international organizations in providing protection and assistance Awareness of the role of civil society in migration issues Willingness to learn and adapt to the Belgian legal and political context Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages is an asset Analytical skills and ability to contribute to reporting Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening and the ability to interact respectfully with diverse groups Team player Proactive and solution-oriented, able to take initiative and work independently when needed Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic work environment Good organizational and planning skills
