Seeking to raise awareness on environmental issues and sustainability, to promote eco-citizenship, as well as intergenerational and intercultural dialogue, in the rural community of Caumont-sur-Aure, the Collège Les Sources d’Aure wishes to cooperate with a young European volunteer on the following missions : - Creation and animation of activities on the thematics of culture, sustainability and eco-citizenship for a variety of publics ; - Work on the creation of intergenerational bridges ; - Promotion of linguistic exchange and interculturality ; - Co-organisation of local events ; This mission includes multiple structures, such as the local Middle School, the Media Library that also includes the media museum, the Youth Center and a social, cultural and youth association, all open to people of all ages, while the Leisure Center to children from 3 to 12 years old. The volunteer will cooperate with each structure, sharing their ideas and proposing activities to be implemented.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The volunteer will have an individual room in an appartment located in the middle school of Caumont, shared with a young assistant of english language. The volunteer will be responsible for the preparation of their own meals, while beeing provided with a free lunch from the school’s canteen on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. A bike will be provided to the volunteer to support the transport in Caumont and between the different activity sites. A carpooling option is available to ensure access to neighboring towns, such as Caen or Vire. A bus also connecting Caumont to the city of Caen.

Formation pendant l’activité

- Participation in an arrival and mid-term formation concerning ESC volunteers, proposed by the French National Agency ; - Participation on training courses, proposed by Europe Direct thanks to a partnership wiht the Départment, on the thematics of Europe, citizenship, democratic life, etc. and different educational practices (academic, adapted and non-formal education) ;

Profil du participant

We are looking for a curious, autonomous, social and creative person, who is interested in sustainable development and eco-friendly practices, in raising awareness and who values intergenerational exchange and interculturality. The volunteer should feel confortable living in a small rural town, such as Caumont. Lastly, the knowledge of French is not obligatory, though appreciated.
