Description
As part of the European Solidarity Corps initiative, we are seeking enthusiastic long-term volunteers to join the “Common Sense” Youth Organisation (CSYO) in Sumgait, Azerbaijan. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in various activities based on their interests and profiles, mainly within the Public Relations Team. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Travel costs will be covered according to the EU distance calculator. Volunteers will receive a monthly allowance of 250 AZN (~150 €) for food and 6 € per day as pocket money. Accommodation will be provided in the Yuxu Co-Living space, where each volunteer will have a private room with Wi-Fi, a shared kitchen, and a common bathroom. All essential facilities are available. Insurance will be covered by the European Solidarity Corps (Henner Insurance). Additionally, volunteers will receive partial support for local transportation costs and will have access to a bicycle.
Training during the activity
During the first month, an orientation programme will be organised to help volunteers get to know our organisation, its values, team members, projects, and working methods. Volunteers will also participate in on-arrival training and a mid-term meeting organised in Georgia by SALTO EECA, together with other ESC volunteers from the Caucasus region. Continuous support will be provided by our local volunteers, work mentors, and our experienced team. To help with daily communication, we will also provide a 3-month Azerbaijani language course during the initial period of the project.
Participant profile
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated young people aged 18 to 30 who are eager to grow and contribute to our projects. Ideal candidates are open-minded, active, and either experienced or willing to learn in the fields of non-formal education, cultural event organisation, social media, or project coordination. A good command of English—both spoken and written—is essential. Participants should share the core values of our organisation, including transcultural understanding, inclusivity, anti-discrimination, and respect for diversity, and be ready to fully commit to the 6–12-month volunteering period in Azerbaijan.
