Description
The ESC HumAid Volunteering Program in Okhaldhunga, Nepal focuses on four development areas: Public Health and Wellbeing, Child Protection, Early Childhood Education, and Teacher Development. Volunteers support local communities by assisting health workers, promoting hygiene and sanitation awareness, organising creative learning activities for children, helping Early Childhood Development Centres, and participating in teacher training support. The goal is to empower marginalized communities and contribute to sustainable development.
Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
Volunteers stay in the Naratika Community Learning Centre (VIN hostel) in Okhaldhunga. Accommodation is simple, with shared living spaces, separate rooms for male and female volunteers, bunk beds, basic kitchen access, shared bathrooms, and occasional power cuts. Basic Nepali food is provided; specific dietary requirements must be managed by volunteers. Laundry service is available for a small fee. Volunteers spend the first night in Kathmandu, then travel by jeep to Okhaldhunga (approx. 8–9 hours). Project sites are reached by walking (10 minutes to 1–1.5 hours daily).
Profil du participant
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated volunteer ready to join our 180-day project in Nepal as soon as possible. No formal physical fitness requirements, but volunteers should consider their limits, as daily walking to the work site is required. Volunteers should be open to simple living conditions, a rural environment, and working with marginalized communities.
