DISCOVER-U project offers a 9-month volunteer placement in Hyvärilä youth centre on the shore of beautiful lake Pielinen. Two volunteers will participate in camp-school related activities and learn basic Finnish youth centre pedagogy and Finnish cultural background. Volunteers will help running events and projects, which gather many international participants annually. Tasks for volunteers include assisting youth workers in running camp school activities with youth 13-17 years old, arranging workshops in local youth house, social media posts, occasionally helping out in the kitchen/maintenance, personal creative project. Love for nature, working with young people, and spending time in secluded locations are essential!
Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
Accommodation in Hyvärilä youth centre, in a wooden house for volunteers and seasonal workers in a single room with shared shower, kitchen, and living room. Meals are served in cafeteria. Travel costs (up to the maximum lump sums according to ESC program limits), accommodation and meals are covered by the hosting organization. Volunteers get pocket money, and a bicycle to go to Nurmes (3.5 km away). Pocket money 7 EUR/day. Volunteers earn 2 holiday days per month according to the Finnish work law.
Formation pendant l’activité
The program includes pre-departure training by a supporting organization, an on-arrival (in Kokkola) and a midterm training during the volunteer project.
Profil du participant
The project is looking for two motivated young individuals, who are eager to develop their artistic and creative skills, engage in team activities with young people from other countries, learn about different cultures and share their own culture with others. Interest in culture, history, arts and creativity, media, digital resources and languages will be a benefit.
