Description
Apprentis d’Auteuil is a Foundation composed of more than 200 youth centers. Its goals are to welcome, educate, train and insert more than 40,000 young people in distress and accompany their families. The Joie de Vivre school is a private Catholic school based on a pedagogy of revalorization, confidence building, well-being of the student, and community reinforcement of its pupils. The school also receives children with disabilities, currently in two ULIS classes (Local Unit for School Inclusion). In an elementary school, your main mission will be to accompany underprivileged children in their school lives : Participate in the discovery of the german language in class, working with the teacher Have children hear and speak German, in immersion in the school. Support teachers and educators in caring for children during school and after-school hours Participate in the canteen service Develop intercultural, solidary and « openness » activities.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will be based in Strasbourg (67200) in the Grand Est region. It is an urban sector. We will provide an accommodation for the future volunteer (in a furnished studio in autonomy, or in a family, or in a shared house, The accommodation will be located in Strasbourg with easy access to shops and markets. Regarding mobility, you will have access to public transports (bus/train/tram/self-service bicycles, ...). Yo receive an allocation to buy your transport pass and a monthly allocation for food. Holidays will be positioned on wenesday and school holidays.
Training during the activity
- The French national agency for ESC projects will run 2 seminars in which the volunteer will be invited to take part. Also, you will have access to the OLS platform which offers online French trainings during your mission. - Apprentis d’Auteuil will organize a 2-day ‘ECIS’ formation: education to citizenship and international solidarity in Paris for all international volunteers within the foundation.
Participant profile
- German speaking volunteer (B2 level / advanced) - Basic French speaking skills (A2 level) - 18 to 30 year old - Have a first experience in animation and / or teaching children - Appreciate contact with children - Be comfortable with collaborative work - Appreciate human contact, exchange and discovery of the Other - If possible, demonstrate a sensibility to the arts, culture and sustainable development
