Green horizon advocates

Agrupamento de Escolas Terras do Ave

Pedome, Portugal

Description

The "Green Horizon Advocates" initiative is a community-driven project aimed at fostering environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and community engagement. In the local context of addressing environmental challenges, this activity is rooted in solidarity and aligns with the principles of the European Solidarity Corps. Its European added value lies in the exchange of knowledge, cross-cultural collaboration, and a shared commitment to environmental sustainability. Volunteers involved in this initiative will actively engage with the local community, advocating for sustainable practices and conducting educational workshops on topics like waste reduction, energy conservation, and biodiversity. The community-led initiatives will include tree planting, clean-up campaigns, and workshops to empower community members with knowledge and skills.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteers will be accommodated in an independent, fully equipped house, which includes a kitchen, a dining room, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms. Each bedroom will be shared by two volunteers and is equipped with individual beds. The accommodation is located approximately 10 minutes from the school by public bus. Lunches will be provided at the school canteen on working days, ensuring that volunteers have access to a warm and balanced meal during their daily activities. In addition, volunteers will receive a daily allowance of approximately 16€.

Training during the activity

At the beginning of the activity, the volunteer will take part in an induction training, which includes the presentation of the organisation, the tasks to be carried out, the internal rules and the context of the hosting organisation.
