Description
This long-term ESC Humanitarian Aid volunteering opportunity takes place in Lomé, Togo, with Hälsa International Togo, a non-profit organization working to protect the rights of vulnerable children and girls. The volunteer will support activities focused on education, health, social inclusion, and community empowerment. Main tasks include assisting with research and data collection on issues affecting street children and vulnerable girls, supporting non-formal education and literacy activities, contributing to awareness-raising campaigns on health, hygiene, and sexual and reproductive health, and helping organize socio-educational activities such as arts, sports, and cultural events. The volunteer will also contribute to advocacy, report writing, and capacity-building activities alongside local staff and peer educators. The volunteer will work in a multicultural environment, in close cooperation with experienced local teams, contributing to sustainable, community-based solutions.
Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
The volunteer will be accommodated in a guesthouse in Lomé, in a room with access to electricity, drinking water, and basic facilities. Internet is available, with costs covered by the volunteer. Groceries are provided by the hosting organization, and the volunteer will prepare their own meals. Local markets and shops are easily accessible. Local transport is available through public transport and motorcycle taxis. Airport pick-up and drop-off are provided by the hosting organization at arrival and departure.
Profil du participant
The volunteer should be motivated to work with vulnerable children and girls and be open to learning and adapting to a new cultural context. They must be able to work in teams with local staff, show respect for local customs, and demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and good communication skills. Basic knowledge of French or willingness to learn is an asset.
