ASSOCIATION DU CENTRE DE BEAUMOTTE

BEAUMOTTE AUBERTANS, France

Description

The Centre de Beaumotte is located 30 minutes from Besançon, in a former brick factory. Since the 1970s, the association has renovated the site with the help of volunteers from all over the world, turning it into an international hosting center where international volunteers, 4 teenagers accompanied by Child Welfare Services, adults undergoing professional reintegration, volunteers, and visiting friends live alltogether. The rooms are shared, and community life is an important part of the experience: preparing meals, managing the premises, organizing leisure activities, etc. By joining the Beaumotte Center, you will be taking part in a unique intercultural and community experience! There are many volunteer activities at the Beaumotte Center: leading workshops for young people or visiting groups, organizing cultural events, renovation and/or maintenance work at the center or in surrounding villages, preparing menus for the association's community restaurant, gardening, and more !

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

You will sleep in shared bedrooms located on the first or second floor of the building, with showers and bathrooms near the rooms. The office of the organisation is located in the same building as the rooms, on the ground floor, as the kitchen and the dining room. A community room, with sofas and screen for movie night is on the second floor. Meals will be prepared collectively and lunches and dinners will be eaten together with everyone staying at the center. The center is quite big, and some groups will join for one or two weeks regularly within the mission. There is also a big garden space.

Training during the activity

Your tasks will vary depending on the association's activities: helping to cook for the association's community canteen, technical work at the center or in surrounding villages to renovate small heritage sites, gardening and permaculture, organizing events (apple festival, international meals), etc. The collective life is a mission in itself! During the project, you'll have the opportunity to strengthen various skills, such as intercultural communication, group facilitation, manual work (masonry, woodwork...), collective life and organization, facilitation trainings, and more!
