ANEC01ESC - Let the colours speak at the Institute for Deaf Youth

Etudes et Chantiers Engagement Civique

Nancy, France

Description

To apply send an EMAIL with your motivation and your profile (skills, interests...) to: volunteering@etudesetchantiers.org. Please called the email by the title of the project. This workcamp takes place at the Institut des Sourds in Jarville-la-Malgrange, near Nancy, which supports deaf and hard-of-hearing youth. Together with the young people, volunteers will design and create a collective mural guided by a street artist, exploring accessible artistic techniques from sketching to painting. They will also take part in small renovation and home-staging tasks to improve and transform living spaces. The project combines creativity, hands-on work and inclusion, offering a unique intercultural experience. Working side by side with deaf youth, volunteers will discover new ways of communicating, including sign language, while sharing daily life and contributing to a meaningful project within the local community.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accommodation is provided less than 500 meters from the Institute, in “La Maison de Vandoeuvre”, with shared sleeping areas, common spaces, showers and toilets. Meals are served at the Institute on weekdays and at the house on weekends. A washing machine and Wi-Fi are available. Local transport for project activities is organised if needed.

Formation pendant l’activité

Guided by a street artist, you will discover and experiment with accessible artistic techniques, from sketching to large-scale mural painting, and learn how to design and create a collective artwork step by step. You will also be introduced to basic renovation and home-staging techniques to improve living spaces. No specific skills are required: motivation, creativity and openness are all you need!

Profil du participant

This workcamp is open to everyone (regardless of gender, age or nationality) who is motivated to take part in a collective and inclusive project. We especially expect volunteers to be sensitive to issues related to hearing disability and ready to embrace new ways of communicating beyond spoken language. Curiosity, patience and open-mindedness are essential! If you need support to prepare your participation, feel free to contact us. The main requirement is your motivation: tell us in your cover letter why you would like to join this meaningful human experience.
