Art & nature development at Slovak countryside

Poton

Bátovce, Slovaquie

Description

Pôtoň is an independent theatre and art centre located in the village of Bátovce in rural Slovakia. After the recent renovation of our cultural house, we are entering a new phase of development and are looking for two volunteers, for 6 or 12 month stay to become part of our team. Volunteers will join the daily life of the centre and help us take care of the space while supporting our cultural activities. The work includes maintenance of the centre, cleaning of shared spaces, gardening in the Park of Arts (watering plants, mowing grass and seasonal care), and technical or production assistance during cultural events such as performances, workshops and residencies. Depending on your interests and skills, you may also develop small activities for local residents or your own creative project, and contribute with photography, graphics or documentation. We are looking for motivated and flexible people who are curious about working in an independent cultural centre in a rural environment.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accommodation, food and transport will be covered by the hosting organisation. Volunteers will stay in shared accommodation in a house in a neighbouring village, sharing the space. The house has a kitchen and basic facilities for everyday living, and another kitchen is available in the cultural centre. Volunteers prepare their own meals. Each volunteer receives pocket money of 6 € per day and a food allowance of 7 € per day. Travel costs to and from the project location will be covered, as well as transport related to project activities. For local transport, bicycles are also available.

Formation pendant l’activité

Volunteers will receive guidance and training from our staff and external professionals in areas necessary for their tasks and activities. The aim is to help them integrate smoothly into the work of the centre and gradually develop new skills. We try to take into account the interests, needs and preferences of each volunteer when planning their learning experience. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to attend basic Slovak language lessons.

Profil du participant

We are looking for motivated, flexible and proactive people who would like to support our cultural activities, including artist residencies, educational projects and theatre productions, while also helping us take care of the cultural centre and its large garden. Volunteers should be open to a variety of practical tasks connected with the daily life of the centre, such as maintaining shared spaces or helping with outdoor work in the Park of Arts.
The working schedule is flexible: there are periods with more intensive activity, especially during events, and quieter times when volunteers can focus on their own initiatives, personal projects or travelling. We would like volunteers to become part of our team while also being able to work independently and organize their time.
Applicants should also consider that the centre is located in the countryside, where social life is quieter than in cities. What the place offers instead is nature, calm surroundings and the opportunity to experience life and cultural work in a rural environment.
