Wild Steps

Radi Vidi Pats

Liepāja, Latvia

Description

Have you ever felt like your voice is too quiet to be heard? Or perhaps you’ve wondered if your opinion even matters in a world where "someone else" seems to decide everything? We believe that you don’t need to be loud to care, and you don’t need to be an expert to matter. "Wild Steps" is a 6-month journey (April – October 2026) designed for those who want to develop their skills in organizing various events, learn about active participation by doing, explore their potential, and help their peers discover their talents and confidence. Radi Vidi Pats is a community-driven organisation in Liepāja, Latvia, with a strong focus on social inclusion, non-formal education, sustainability, and active participation. We use gardening, forests, the sea and trails as our learning spaces. Whether it's hiking, cycling or camping under the stars, nature provides an environment where everyone can grow at their own pace, away from the pressure of daily expectations.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

More likely you'll stay in a place with a separate room, but a shared kitchen and other facilities. It may be also a small flat for you. You will receive a food allowance to purchase and prepare your own meals. Sometimes we will cook lunch together. Sustainability is an important part of Radi Vidi Pats, and cycling is the main way to get around, we will arrange a bicycle for you if it's comfortable to get around like this!

Training during the activity

You will receive practical training related to your tasks, including non-formal education methods, sustainability practices, community engagement, event organization, creative communication and project-specific skills (e.g. bicycle repair, creating hiking routes, using maps etc., if needed). If necessary, you can attend Latvian or English language courses. During the project, you will participate in mentoring sessions, reflections and self-development activities, strengthening your skills, confidence, emotional well-being and personal growth.

Participant profile

Participant Profile: Who are we looking for? -We are looking for an empathetic and open-minded volunteer who feels a natural calling to support others on their journey of self-discovery. This role is perfect for you if you: *Value Emotional Well-being: You are interested in working with young people and supporting their personal growth in a safe, pressure-free environment. *Nature & Action Lover: You enjoy being outdoors and believe that sustainability and environmental awareness are powerful tools for building community and confidence. *Creative Soul: You like using creative expression—be it storytelling, digital content, or hands-on activities—to help others "come out into the light" and share their journey. *Empathetic Facilitator: You feel comfortable (or want to learn) how to facilitate small group activities and reflection sessions that focus on listening before judging. *Growth-Oriented: You don’t need to be an expert or a "superhero". We value your curiosity, flexibility, and willingness to grow alongside the young people you support. *Inclusive Mindset: You are motivated to be part of a values-driven initiative that promotes solidarity, respect, and the belief that every voice—no matter how small—matters. What will be your tasks? *Be a Supportive Peer: Support and co-create activities that encourage young people to participate in society through simple, practical, and nature-based ways. *Guide Adventures: Help organize and facilitate outdoor workshops, hikes, and community events where young people can meet and connect. *Capture the Journey: Create simple social media content (videos, stories) that highlights the growth and "steps" of the project participants. *Lead by Example: Participate in weekly planning and evaluation, while also having the space to develop your own mini-project that aligns with your talents and the project’s and Radi Vidi Pats values. We are here to support you in overcoming challenges and discovering that your voice is much more powerful than you think. We offer a structured yet highly individual path to help you find your voice: *Adaptation (The First Step): Get to know us and the environment. You’ll have a dedicated mentor and coordinator to provide emotional support and help you feel safe. *Participation (Walking Together): Start small. Help us organize simple outdoor events, game nights, eco-cleanups, or create social media content that reflects your journey. *Initiative (Your Own Path): Once you feel ready, we will support you in launching your own "Personal Project" – a chance to develop your unique talents, whether it’s a campaign for mental health, a green initiative, hike or a community event. Ready to take the first step? Maybe you’re reading this and thinking, "I love nature and helping people, but I’m not sure if I’m 'expert' enough." Here’s a secret: we aren’t looking for experts. We are looking for young people who are kind, curious, and ready to grow alongside us. If you have a big heart for others and a love for the outdoors, you already have everything you need to start. You’ll have a mentor to catch you when you stumble and a team that celebrates every small victory with you. If you feel that your voice is small, let’s discover together that it is not . Apply now and let’s start this journey into the wild – one step at a time!
