Description
The volunteer will be at the local middle school with students between the ages of 13-16. There, the volunteer will be part of a team that interacts with the students in the corridors, creates break activities and joins classes. The focus for the volunteer will be youths and interacting with them. During school breaks, the volunteer will be at the local library to create arts and crafts activities with younger pupils together with the library staff. The volunteer is encouraged to develop their own projects, which they will oversee with the support and guidance of their work mentor if needed.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteer will share a centrally located apartment with two other volunteers. It has a private bedroom for each of them and a shared kitchen, bathroom and living room. The apartment is equipped with Wi-fi and a TV. The project lasts 12 months and the volunteer will have two days off a month, additionally to the Swedish bank holidays. The volunteer buys and cook their own food. Åmål is a small town with everything within walking distance and the volunteer will get a bike to use as well.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will participate in an on-arrival training and a mid-term training in Stockholm held by the National Agency in Sweden and meet volunteers from other Swedish projects.
Participant profile
FOR EU/EES COUNTRIES. We are looking for an open-minded and approachable volunteer who enjoys working with young people from different backgrounds and needs. The volunteer should feel comfortable interacting with others in everyday situations and be communicative and socially confident. The volunteer should have an interest in creating activities and engaging young people in a positive and inclusive way, while also being attentive and supportive when needed. The volunteer should be willing to take initiative, work independently, and contribute their own ideas and small projects.
