Summer in Murcia: Nature, Youth & Community Volunteering
RED INTERNACIONAL B-LIVE
Murcia, Spain
Description
Spend your summer in Murcia (Spain) taking part in a hands-on volunteering experience that combines nature, community and youth work. You will be involved in a local environmental project based in an urban garden, where you will learn about sustainable practices and the rich horticultural heritage of the region. At the same time, you will support activities with local volunteers and youth groups, helping to create a welcoming and participatory space. You will also contribute to the communication of the entity, creating content, documenting activities and sharing the impact of what we do. This experience is a great opportunity to connect with people, learn by doing and make a real impact, while enjoying the summer in a vibrant Mediterranean city!
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
All arrangements will be made in accordance with the European Solidarity Corps Guide 2025. The volunteer will receive a daily allowance of €11 to cover pocket money and food costs. Local transport related to the volunteering activities will be covered by the project. The volunteer will receive a public transport pass or reimbursement of travel costs necessary for participating in the activities. If needed, the volunteer will also be provided with a bicycle.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will receive on-the-job training and continuous support from the hosting organisation, including an introduction to the project, the local context and the planned activities. A mentor will guide the volunteer throughout the experience, supporting learning through daily activities, teamwork and reflection. As most participants communicate mainly in Spanish, basic knowledge of Spanish can be helpful for interacting with participants and the team, though not required.
Participant profile
We are looking for a motivated and open-minded young person interested in environmental sustainability, youth participation and community work. The volunteer should enjoy working in a hands-on environment, both outdoors (urban garden activities) and in teamwork with young people and volunteers. Being proactive, flexible and responsible is important, as well as having a positive attitude and willingness to learn. Interest in communication and content creation (social media, photos, videos) is a plus, but not mandatory. Previous experience in volunteering, environmental activities or youth work is welcome but not essential. Basic knowledge of Spanish or English will help in daily communication, but the most important is motivation, respect to diversity and openness to new experiences.
