Description
Ready for the summer season? Join us at organic farm in Jurovski Dol, Slovenia, for two weeks of working in the nature and with the nature! Experience the challenges and the beauties of the charming month of June with its’ longest days and shortest nights! What needs to be done to await the summer on the highest spirits? Hosted at one organic farm, you will have the possibility to work with at least 3 different realities of organic farming in the region, meeting and learning from different farms with their different, unique approaches, but with one, common mission: to farm in a sustainable, strictly organic way. We will be observing the conditions of the different farms and try to meet their individual needs – we will be fixing the fences; weeding the lavender, fruit trees, and black current; collecting the herbs, and also harvesting the first berries of the year - haskap berries, processing them to beautiful marmalades and jams. The working hours differ, depending on the weather.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
You will be accommodated in the farmhouse on the property of Zelena centrala in the RURAL VILLAGE of Jurovski Dol. You will be sharing the room to sleep with at least 2 more people, and the daily routines with the whole volunteering group (6-8 persons). A kitchen with the terrace, a bathroom with the shower and a toilet will be at your disposal, together with the open-air shower and a compost toilet at the farm. A possibility to sleep in the tent. We cook the lunch, you take care for your breakfast&dinner (we supply 100% organic&local). Regular buses to Maribor depart 500m from the farm.
Training during the activity
AGRI-CULTURE IS THE FUTURE! This opportunity is a great chance to dive into the complex questions of sustainability, food security and self-sufficiency, biodiversity, and climate change and to learn about them through experience and work on a small organic farm, full of creativity, fun and good vibes with enthusiastic and experienced mentors.

We're looking for active, engaged and curious persons, who like to share and live in a community. Are you interested in concrete practices of sustainable living and preservation of nature? The obstacles are only the additional incentives for your creativity, and you are not afraid of physical work outdoors - meaning also adapting to the unpredictable weather conditions? You should not be afraid of nature, team work, and of living in a rural place, away from the city comforts.
