Full-Time Activities Volunteer – Client Development

Dublin Simon Community

Dublin 7, Irlande

Description

Dublin Simon Community supports people experiencing or at risk of homelessness across Dublin and the east coast of Ireland. As a Full-Time Activities Volunteer, you will help create meaningful opportunities that promote confidence, wellbeing, independence, and social inclusion for people rebuilding their lives. Working alongside our Client Development team, you will design and deliver group activities based on your own interests and skills. These may include creative arts, music, languages, digital skills, sports, wellbeing, mindfulness, literacy, employability, or other workshops that encourage learning and community participation. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the social inclusion sector, develop new skills, work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, and make a lasting impact while living in Ireland as part of the European Solidarity Corps.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Volunteers live in shared accommodation with other ESC volunteers in single bedrooms with shared kitchen and living areas, creating a welcoming international community. A monthly food allowance and local transport are provided through the ESC programme. Placements are based across Dublin, with most services easily accessible by public transport. Volunteers receive support throughout their stay to help them settle into life in Ireland.

Formation pendant l’activité

You will receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing supervision, mentoring, and role-specific training throughout your placement. Mandatory training includes Safeguarding, Child Protection, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, Hand Hygiene and Let's Talk About Suicide. Volunteers also have the opportunity to complete a QQI Level 6 Special Purpose Award in Volunteering through Technological University Dublin, alongside ESC arrival and mid-term training provided by Léargas.

Profil du participant

We are looking for enthusiastic, open-minded and reliable volunteers who enjoy working with people and want to make a positive social impact. You don't need previous experience—motivation, empathy and a willingness to learn are most important. We particularly welcome applicants who have skills or interests they would like to share through activities such as art, music, languages, sports, digital skills, wellbeing, creative writing, education or other hobbies. Volunteers should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, respect diversity, and demonstrate a non-judgemental approach when working with people experiencing homelessness.
