Description

We are looking to host a European volunteer to lead educational activities in our network of local libraries. The volunteer will contribute to the life of the libraries network, the libraries activities and organise workshops to raise awareness among library users about European citizenship and world cultures.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Supervisors: Julie Verré, European Affairs Officer, and Anne Loison, Intermunicipal Librarian
The volunteer will be based at the Urban Community’s headquarters in downtown Saint-Brieuc and will regularly visit the media libraries in the Bay area (a company vehicle will be provided).
Travel: flat-rate reimbursement (fixed mileage calculated based on the distance between the place of residence and Saint-Brieuc).
Meal allowances and spending money.
Local transportation: bus pass provided; an electric bicycle may be made available.

Training during the activity

National orientation seminar (5 days) and national mid-term seminar (4 days).
Regional seminar for European volunteers (3 days).
A half-day (Wednesday morning) of French language classes.
Other possible training opportunities:
- In-house training on various topics: IT/digital technology, how local governments operate, etc.
- with partners in the youth sector (introduction to community education, techniques for teaching citizenship and international solidarity, introduction to European institutions, etc.

The volunteer may carry out a personal project during their assignment.

Participant profile

Motivated, self-reliant, and creative.
Fluency in spoken French.
Interest in event planning and a love of reading.
Sensitivity to and interest in the themes of democracy and European values.
Proficiency in social media communication is a plus.

A driver’s license is preferred.
