Description
Philanthropy in Ruma provides home care for 35 older adults with a social worker and two caregivers. The office has a Second Hand shop and a computer classroom, supported by volunteers. In villages, older volunteers run creative workshops. A weekly IT class helps seniors, while humanitarian aid—food, hygiene, and clothing—is distributed daily, assisting 200 people monthly. Your tasks will be: ✔️ Assist in raising community awareness about humanitarian initiatives ✔️ Strengthen relationships with the community and support humanitarian engagement ✔️ Support the daily distribution of food, clothing, and essentials for vulnerable and homeless individuals ✔️ Track and document the distribution process ✔️ Receive, sort, and organize humanitarian aid ✔️ Participate in field activities for older persons, including creative workshops, doctor visits, and computer courses ✔️ Help create simple communication materials in line with data protection and safeguarding
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Ruma seems as a small town, but you will not get bored here. Your accommodation is 500-1000m from the office in the city center, about a 15-20 min walk. Ruma has bike lanes (and cycling is quite popular here), public transport, and trains for travel outside the city. Markets, restaurants, and cafés are everywhere. The Central Square is 300m from Philanthropy’s office. Nearby are Borkovačko Lake, Fruška Gora National Park, Novi Sad (35 km), and many other tourist spots. Philanthropy will find you suitable accommodation and pay all the costs, You will also get 500 EUR as a pocket money.
Training during the activity
You will collaborate with your mentors to develop a learning and development plan and may join Philanthropy's capacity-building activities where possible. Along with the mandatory Code of Conduct orientation and Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults training, you can also receive training in Project Cycle Management and Monitoring & Evaluation, helping you better understand program development and activity implementation.
Participant profile
As a volunteer, you should be adaptable to cultural sensitivities and changing contexts that are common in humanitarian and development work. You are expected to respect and uphold a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of discrimination. You should act responsibly and strictly adhere to Philanthropy’s Code of Conduct and other mandatory policies, particularly the Safeguarding Policy, Anti-Discrimination Policy, and Data Protection Policy. We are looking for a cooperative, proactive, and communicative person who is empathetic, yet able to remain rational and professional in challenging situations. ---- Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, so do not wait till the deadline ----
