Description

Associação de Moradores Bairro Horizonte (AMBH) is a non-profit organization born in 2015 based in Bairro Horizonte, a neighborhood in the parish of Penha de França, in Lisbon. It is considered a neighbourhood of priority intervention as deemed by Lisbon’s City Hall. The mission of the association is to defend and to promote the interests of "Bairro Horizonte" and the surrounding areas, supporting and developing educational, recreational, social, cultural and sports initiatives and contributing to the integration of migrants. 

The volunteer will work with a holistic team to help prepare, implement and evaluate the following activities: study support and sports and non-formal education activities with children and youngsters of the neighbourhoods of intervention; digital training with group of seniors and youngsters to improve intergenerational peer learning and exchange; participation in meetings with partners and networks for local development; participation in community-led actions.



 

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accommodation under suitable living conditions (within the budget allocated for that purpose by the National Agency); 

Adequate working conditions, teamwork and a safe environment;

Opportunities and support for personal project development; 

A tutor available to provide guidance and support;

Basic Portuguese language classes and an introduction to Portuguese culture during the first weeks of the project.

Formation pendant l’activité

The activity plan will be adjusted according to the volunteer interests and capacities. Additionally, there will also be allotted time each week to develop their personal projects which enrich both the volunteer and the organization. 

Profil du participant

• Young person, between the ages of 18 and 30;

• To be motivated to acquire knowledge (know-how), discover new realities and transmit their own knowledge and skills;

• Open to work alongside the local community(ies), diversity and minorities;

• Be able to communicate effectively, especially with people of different cultures;

• Work in a team and have the willingness to improve their teamwork ability;

• Have a basic level of social and intercultural sensibility and respect for differences;

• Be willing to develop skills pertaining to the management of projects/activities;

• Social media and other online platforms;

• Have the initiative to develop their own activities and projects;

• Be creative and innovative, have the ability to promote and discuss new ideas or initiatives connected to the work already carried out by the hosting organization;

• Be able to work in English (optional);

• Willing to learn Portuguese and other useful skills.
