Description

AMICOS is a non-profit association in Boiro (Galicia) that supports people with intellectual disabilities, their families and other vulnerable groups, promoting their inclusion and autonomy. 

The activity will take place at AMICOS facilities, including residential services, a day centre, an occupational centre, employment support and educational activities, run by a multidisciplinary team. 

As an ESC volunteer, you will support a variety of activities, adapted to your interests and to the needs of AMICOS. You may: 

  • Support inclusion and awareness-raising activities.
  • Assist in educational and training activities. 
  • Help organise workshops, events and leisure activities. 
  • Help professionals prepare materials. 
  • Support day-to-day and basic administrative tasks. 

Tasks will be agreed progressively, so you can discover different areas of the organisation.

Guided by our professionals, you will develop skills such as teamwork, communication and intercultural competences.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accommodation: AMICOS provides a fully equipped shared apartment with a private room for each volunteer. The apartment will be shared with other volunteers.

Meals: Lunch is provided at the school from Monday to Friday. Volunteers also receive pocket money for their personal expenses.

Transport: Every day, you will travel between the apartment and the Association office on a bus provided by the organisation.

 

Formation pendant l’activité
  • Welcome training at AMICOS: an introduction to our working standards, the school's methodology and facilities, and your tutor, who will guide you during your stay.
  • Learning on the job: our team of experienced professionals will share their methods for supporting students with special needs.
  • On-arrival training and mid-term evaluation: organised by the Spanish National Agency.
  • Online Language Support (OLS): free online Spanish courses.
Profil du participant

We are looking for a volunteer aged 18 to 30 who:

  • Has at least a B2 level of Spanish, since the tasks involve communicating directly with the staff and with the members of our special center.
  • Is proactive, committed and open-minded.
  • Has a genuine interest in, and sensitivity towards, working with people with disabilities in leisure, cultural and environmental activities.
  • Is open to working in an intercultural environment, learning and sharing experiences.

Knowledge of Galician is not required: you will pick it up naturally during your stay.
