Empowering young people: Volunteering at Heinz-Fitschen-Haus Children, Youth and Family Centre

Internationale Jugendgemeinschaftsdienste (ijgd) Landesverein Niedersachsen e. V.

Stadt Osnabrück - FB f. Kinder, Jugendliche und Familien

Osnabrück, Allemagne

Description

The Heinz Fitschen Haus Children’s, Youth and Family Centre has, over the years, developed into a vibrant neighbourhood meeting place in Schinkel. The Heinz-Fitschen-Haus sees itself as a neighbourhood centre, serving as an important venue for communication and social interaction and as a hub for cultural diversity in the neighbourhood. People of all nationalities, religions, generations and genders should feel welcome and accepted at our centre. Through our open programmes, we aim to guide and support young people in particular as they grapple with gender- and culture-specific issues. We want young people to find a place here where they can explore their potential and discover new interests and talents. It is important to us to keep an eye on developments and people’s needs, to encourage them to express their opinions, wishes and criticisms, and to support them as advocates in order to help initiate processes of change in the neighbourhood.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accomodation: you will stay in a shared house in Osnabrück, where you will have access to internet, a shared bathroom and kitchen. You will have your own room.

Food: you will receive the official amount for food (345 €) per month and also a monthly pocket money (210€).

Transport arrangements: we will provide you with a bike and a monthly public transport pass (if necessary).

Formation pendant l’activité

You will have many opportunities to learn with us! You will attend two mandatory seminars in different German cities, where you can reflect on your learning progress and meet other volunteers like you.

You can improve your language skills thanks to a language course that we will provide. We will also offer you trainings before, during and after your project.

In addition, during your stay with us, we will organise regular reflection meetings.

Profil du participant

The biggest building block of our work is the contact with the young people in our facilities in the form of open children's and youth work. Therefore, we would like to have a person who is courageous to get in touch with the young people of Schinkel. Not being shy, being interested in the young people's issues and being open to other people and situations are definitely qualities that will make your start with us easier.

We do not expect any special educational qualifications. Of course, you will not be able to communicate in German from the beginning, but we think that there are many ways of communicating outside of language.

We would like you to bring ideas and initiative to regularly design, plan and implement activities for our visitors. These can be low-threshold projects, for example in the area of music, sport and creativity, in which the visitors can try things out. The projects can be in your areas of interest, and there are many possibilities in our house.

The most important aspect for us is that you want to be part of our team for the duration of your service and come into contact with the young people in the projects. We are happy if you bring your own interests and skills into our team.
