The Institute of Botany (Botanical Garden) is the responsible body for plant collections in Armenia. It holds rich herbarium as well as collection of 1070 species, the important collection of Armenian flora and provides a basis for the study of it. This is a nice place for children and tourists. It has an interesting museum of paleo-botany, where the volunteer will have an own work-space. The collection and cultivation of endangered plant species is considered as a main task of the garden. The volunteer will assist the workers of in variety of environmental maintenance projects, taking care of space, cultivating the trees, cleanness of the territory, etc. The volunteer will learn environmental protection, taking care of plants, working with visitors, basics of museology. Each volunteer will find here a friendly atmosphere, hospitable staff and locals, who will always help the volunteer in their daily life in Armenia.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The volunteers will be provided with convenient accommodation: a hostel in Yerevan near the city center, featuring same-gendered rooms with two occupants each, shared bathrooms, and a spacious kitchen. This cozy hostel, equipped with all necessities, offers a garden and ensures safety. Approximately 17 long-term HUJ volunteers from different European countries reside in the hostel. On the first of each month, volunteers receive a monthly allowance, sent by HUJ to their bank cards, covering their pocket money, food, transportation, and internet expenses.

Formation pendant l’activité

Upon the volunteer's arrival at the airport, they will receive a warm welcome by HUJ. Following this, an introductory meeting will be held at the HUJ office, where the organizational staff will formally greet the volunteers and assist in essential procedures for their stay in Yerevan (obtaining an Armenian phone number, a physical bank card, and arranging a meeting with their assigned mentor). During their mobility in Yerevan, volunteers will engage in two training sessions - an on-arrival and a mid-term training - organized by SALTO in Georgia. Profil du participant

There are no gender restrictions regarding the selection/recruitment of volunteers. As per the ESC guide, the age of the volunteer should range from 18-30. The volunteer should be interested or have some experience in working with children; he/she should be enthusiastic, responsible, respectful, thoughtful and reliable. The main criterion for the choice of the volunteer-to-be are the activities they have planned for the project.
