Activity description
The Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) is coordinated by The IARS International Institute and hosted at our offices in central London. We will bring together young people through the European Solidarity Corps mediums, and empower and support the most marginalised communities by responding to societal challenges and needs. The programme offers an empowering experience for young people who want to help, learn and develop, while also allowing intercultural exchanges. The placements are for up to three months and they are full time. The YEP activities are structured within our well tested and simple civic engagement model, including the IARS Training Programme, delivery of a social action project in the areas of human rights, equality, justice, youth policy, and, evaluation and accreditation.Ordninger for innkvartering, mat og transport
The programme will contribute to all travel, accommodation and leaving expenses for the volunteers. This also includes linguistic support, insurance and where needed any special assistance. Costs will be reimbursed from IARS either to your sending organisation partner or to you directly (depending on arrangements). We will also arrange the accommodation near our offices after discussing the accommodation options with you.Training during the activity
You will enroll in our structured training programme, which offers insight in the areas of youth research/policy/practice, project management and evaluation, and digital skills. You will gain an understanding of how to bring about change from the bottom up as well as learn about your rights in relation to employment/housing/human rights and other social issues. After completing this programme you will have improved your skills on how to fully participate in society as an equal citizen and instilled your confidence to challenge social conventions and break the barriers of democratic disparity.Participant profile
We are looking for motivated volunteers aged 18 – 30, who are willing to work and offer their experience and ideas to our organisation. We will prioritise young people with fewer opportunities, who may face social, geographical or economic obstacles, health problems or disability, cultural differences or educational challenges. Gender balance, respect differences and discretion will be kept. Volunteers should have Intermediate level of English Communication and they must be registered on the European Solidarity Corps platform.Activity dates
