Activity description

Based in disadvantaged areas north of Paris, Planet Citizens conducts a program teaching Languages through Sports. The mission is for any European from 18 to 30 years old passionate about coaching young people, with good communication skills. While always teaming up with the clubs’ coaches, sports teachers and Planet Citizens' staff, the volunteer will be tasked with the following missions: - Assist sports teachers in local elementary schools (6-11 years old pupils) in preparing and conducting Physical Education lessons. - Create opportunities for pupils to practice English during PE lessons. - Participate to make the youth aware of European Citizenship and mobility. - Create opportunities for the club's members to practice English during and outside training sessions. - Get involved in the development of the "Sport in English" pedagogical method. - Get involved in the local community. The volunteers are also expected to join our partner clubs as athletes.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will share a flat with the organization's two other volunteers. Accommodation costs during the mission is covered. A transportation pass is provided
, allowing the volunteer to use all public transport in Paris area. 13€/day of mission (pocket money and acitivity cost)

Training during the activity

European Solidarity Corps training, by the French National Agency. Weekly French classes. Pedagogical meeting (Evalutation of the kids, impact measures, lesson preparation) Working alongside coaches and teachers, you will learn the French way of coaching and teaching.

Participant profile

We are particularly looking for Physical Education graduates and sports coaches looking for an experience abroad. We will also be happy to welcome and support sport enthusiasts with a motivation to help children in socially disadvantaged areas.
