Descripción de la actividad

In order to promote active participation in the social life of the country, develop society of true solidarity and enhance the organization's activities, youth organisation Young Folks LV in Riga would like to host 3 volunteers who would bring new perspectives and experience to organisation’s local activities. The volunteers will be directly involved into the life and activities of the organisation, will be asked to create their own activities and tasks, as well as work on their assigned projects: Ukrainian volunteer - work on the digital youth magazine "Voice", coordinate authors and publications; Italian volunteer - work on the "Green Folks" movement regarding promoting sustainability and ecology issues in the local society; Dutch volunteer - work on the "Urban Folks", city planning, urbanistics and architecture moment. *If you are not from these aforementioned countries, but you are interested in these topics, please feel free to apply!

Alojamiento, manutención y transporte

The volunteers will share the apartment specially rented for them in Riga city center, near to Young Folks office. Each volunteer will have his/her own room, but they will have common kitchen and bathroom. The flat will be safe, clean and fully equipped. The apartment will be located in the city center with good connections to shops and transport. The money envisaged for food and pocket money will be provided monthly in cash.

Formación durante la actividad

The organisation will provide mentoring support and organizing weekly meetings in order to help the participant to understand why he wants and what he is able to do during the European Solidarity Corps programme. The organisation will organise meetings, where volunteers will be introduced with the organisation, main activities, objectives and key personal; the context of Latvia and culture will be discussed. The volunteers will be provided with Latvian language lessons. In addition, volunteers will attend on-arrival training, mid-term evaluation and annual Solidarity Corps event.

Perfil del participante

We encourage the participation of everyone, especially young people with fewer opportunities (e.g. economic obstacles, cultural differences, educational difficulties), in our project. Thus, any person (18 -30 years old) can propose his candidature. There is no strict criteria in selection, but we will take into consideration motivation, wish to exchange (ideas, knowledge, energy etc.) and build together of candidates. We are seeking for someone, who speak English in order to easier integrate in the work of association and local community and someone, who is interested in youth work.
