Chiro Flanders is the biggest youth movement in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking region of Belgium. Chiro Flanders is part of the international umbrella organisation FIMCAP. As a volunteer you will be working for both organisations. You will be involved in the organisation of international youth exchanges. The main project planned for 2023 is the General Assembly (GA) of FIMCAP. You will take up administrative tasks and help in the development of the program. Another task will be communication and the dissemination of information via newsletters, social media and the website. Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

You are responsible for your own accommodation and food. Every month you will receive money from the ESC program, which can be spent according to your preferences. Should the costs of the accommodation be higher than the given funds, you will have to contribute yourself. There will be two ESC volunteers working at Chiro Flanders for the same period. You can decide to share accommodation or to live separately. The Chiro office is located in the centre of Antwerp, one of the main cities in Belgium. There are a variety of student flats and co-housing projects available.

Formation pendant l’activité

You will work in close cooperation with a staff member of Chiro Flanders who will coach you in your tasks. Each project has its own group of volunteers, which you will be part of. You will take part in EuroCourse, a training course for European youth leaders in April in Denmark. Besides this, there will be the possibility to take part in one of the regional training courses for Chiro leaders.

Profil du participant

You are between 18 and 30 years old. Good knowledge of English. Ability to work, write and speak in English. Willingness to learn Dutch. Having a background in a youth movement or in youth work will be an added value. Playing is an important part of our work and in our projects. You have to be able to work independently, making your own planning and setting your own goals, which will be discussed with the staff member in regular meetings. We expect openness and respect for other views. FIMCAP is a catholic youth organisation and our religious background forms part of our activities.
