Volunteer at Children's Village in Austria

APPLY on a form https://formfaca.de/sm/yqrcpParn | The Children’s Village is a youth welfare institution. We take care of children and young people, who cannot live in their original family. Due to unfavourable socialization conditions they are disadvantaged in many fields, and are in need of support. Around 40 children from 7-18 years live in the Children's Village. The staff consists of professional workers such as psychologists, teachers, social workers, youth workers, etc. Three volunteers are hosted in different houses. They assist the staff in daily activities: meeting children after school, cooking, learning, doing house chores, playing and spending free time and so on. They accompany children in excursions or when needed and organise activities for kids. Work start in the afternoon, volunteers work 35 hours/week. Volunteers learn about Austrian social welfare system, improve their social skills, get an insight into social work, educational and therapy methods.

Beitrag zu Unterbringung, Verpflegung und Reisekosten

Volunteers will live in a shared apartment with single bedrooms, but shared cooking, washing, laundry, bathroom and social facilities. Volunteer will receive 230,00 € for food/month. Additionally, the volunteer has the possibility to have lunch and dinner for free at the host organization on all his/her working days. The host organisation will provide a monthly ticket for the public transport. The volunteer will take the bus to go to work. The volunteers will be provided with one German Course, at least.

Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit

On-arrival training and mid-term training provided with cooperation with the Austrian NA; regular project visits, mentoring, mediation, crisis management, evaluation/reports and support for volunteers; at least one intensive German language course.
