Green-it Up

Beschreibung der Tätigkeit

Green-it Up is the 2023-2024 YEU Cyprus X ESC project. This project aims beyond bringing youth from different countries together under common European goals and solidarity, to advocate for sustainability and environmental action/s. Through participation in non-formal education and volunteerism, Green-it up promotes awareness of sustainability and climate change and builds the ECO capacity of YEU Cyprus and other NGOs. Moreover, this project aims through the cooperation of youth coming from different backgrounds to create actions towards the elimination or the decreasing of environmentally harmful production/s & consumption/s. The project starts with research on the local needs and the good sustainable practices present already on the island. Then during the development phase, the volunteers will be asked to plan, design and develop activities based on non-formal education methods. Lastly, the project will conclude with the publication of the results of this experience.

Beitrag zu Unterbringung, Verpflegung und Reisekosten

The volunteers will be accommodated in a shared mixed-gender flat located in Nicosia city centre (30 mins walk) and most probably will be stay in shared (single-gender) bedrooms with shared cooking, washing, laundry and social facilities. A monthly food allowance will be provided (140 €) and meals will be prepared by the volunteers. An additional monthly allowance of 5 €/daily and a bike are given. Travel expences will be reimburced up to a maximum based on the EU distance calculator (starting point, your hometown. Ending point Cyprus – Only LCA, PFO airports).

Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit

During the opportunity, the volunteers will have the chance to develop their competencies and skills as these are highlighted by Youthpass through workshops and trainings (On-arrival, occasional, Midterm). Competences include the Multilingual and interpersonal competence, Citizenship competence, Entrepreneurship competence, Cultural awareness and expression competence, Digital competence, and Literacy competence. Teilnehmerprofil

For this project we are looking for a diverse group of youth (18-30 years old) motivated and willing to learn. Our volunteers have to be openminded and willing to collaborate with people with different religions, sexualities, habits and learning needs. As this is a long ESC project by applying you are committed and willing to spend 12 months abroad in a foreign country, as well as adaptable and easy-going? Similarly, you are flexible in working environments and open-minded, as well a team worker. If this is your profile, then this experience is the best opportunity for you!
