Description de l’activité
Together with Mondo NGO, who opened a Mondo East Africa office in Kampala to create a stronger network, our local partner Uganda Pioneers Association (UPA) endeavours to bridge the gap between people of different cultural backgrounds. One of the major challenges in Gulu, Kikooba and Mengo is the lack of transport means for disabled people, which makes it costly for the group members to attend the meetings and other group activities. Women are also struggling with the stability of incoming orders, and their incomes which usually are the main economic support for families. Volunteer's main tasks are: to increase organisational capacity, enhance marketing skills and finance management, train these groups on ICT solutions for marketing to ensure their independent online marketing skills, and advocate and raise awareness among the local population to access Ugandan social systems.Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport
The volunteer will work in Kampala and Kikooba for the first agreed months, and then in Gulu. When working in Kampala and Kikooba, the volunteer can stay at Villa Mamu located in Mengo (private room, big compound, kitchen, toilet and hot shower), and will have to commute to Kikooba once or twice a week. In Gulu, the volunteer will be staying in a guest house that is just a walking distance from the project (private secure room, solar power, and a shared kitchen for cooking). The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of 450 euros to cover basic needs and local transport.Formation pendant l’activité
The volunteer will learn about Uganda and East African craft markets, tailoring, fashion and designs, and the general trends about the operations of three community-based groups, and about challenges of disabled people in Uganda and their abilities. The volunteer will have the opportunity to get deep knowledge about working in the selected field of work. The training includes working in a local context and integrating with different communities. The volunteer can participate in local language courses. Volunteering will build new contacts and partnerships.Profil du participant
