Beschreibung der Tätigkeit

Together with Mondo NGO, our local partner Uganda Pioneers Association (UPA) endeavours to bridge the gap between people of different cultural backgrounds. Since its inception in 1989, UPA’s aims to encourage and support the youth to take on leading roles towards development, promote and improve natural and acquired skills for community development and create community awareness on thematic issues through voluntarism. This volunteering position will provide an exciting opportunity to support the implementation and visibility of the Mondo Digital Competencies Program among various target groups. The volunteer will be working alongside the Mondo Kampala office and UPA. The volunteer would visit community development projects and is expected to train the project staff where applicable. Beitrag zu Unterbringung, Verpflegung und Reisekosten

The volunteer will have a private room in shared or private accommodation in Kampala. The accommodation has running water with warm showers and electricity, but power cuts are common. The accommodation has cooking facilities. Commuting to work is possible on a motorbike taxi or local public transport (matatu). The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of 450 euros to cover basic needs and local transport.

Active engagement in direct community work with the community projects, schools, students, teachers and community members. Opportunity for the exploration, growth, and development of social and transferable skills. Possibility to cooperate with local teachers in mutual learning and exchanging of good practices.

Teilnehmerprofil

Our aim is to find a person with at least a medium level of computer skills and who is fluent in the English language. Skills in providing training Teacher degree or higher education in ICT or Human Sciences in the non-formal education programmes are welcome. Good communication and cooperation skills, flexibility, adaptation, independence are highly desidered. Experience in travelling to less developed countries, especially those with conditions and circumstances comparable to rural Africa would be appreciated.
