Protection,monitoring and awareness for wildlife in Thrace Greece 2023

Our organization main purpose is the conservation of the natural environment of Thrace by monitoring birds of prey as key indicators of biodiversity, and at the same time by promoting projects for the harmonious coexistence of human and nature. Volunteering Activities: Restoration of the National Park of Dadia-Lefkimis-Soufli, Monitoring of vultures and other birds of prey in Thrace, Monitoring of wind farms’ impact on birds, Assistance in promoting and testing of alternative methods to reduce human-wildlife conflicts, Support and participation in various educational and awareness events/actions/projects, Manage data, creation of maps, managing of trap camera photos, Assistance to anti-poison dog unit patrols for detection of poison baits and animals, Assistance in sampling and fitting transmitters on vultures, Monitoring of bird locations with the use of transmitters, Assistance in injured raptor’s rescue, etc.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

An accommodation in fully equipped house is provided:4 bedrooms with 6 single beds, 1 living room, 1 kitchen,2 bathrooms,3 balconies, front and back yard.Electric devices(washing machine, fridge-freezer, electric stove,air conditioner).We provide 5euro/day food money and 6euro/day pocket money.The Society’s office is located in Dadia, 5 min on foot from the house. Beside, there is a bus 3times/day to neighbour small town,where the buses connections to other cities of Evros Regional Unit.

Formation pendant l’activité

Understanding of ecosystem functioning, its conservation and management through different implemented actions.Experience and skills in field work. Learning Greek through OLS.Working with specialized computer softwares/programs. Skills in organizing, designing and participating in different events to raise public awareness. Improving of teamwork skills by being a part of specialized team formed by relevant scientist.Living in a small,local community.

Profil du participant

We accept all candidates without any discrimination at all. The only needed requirement is good use of English. An additional qualification,but not required, would include: car driving license and biology, environment science or veterinary degree. But if you do not meet any of the additional qualifications there is absolutely no problem, anyone can support and join our team !
