Description de l’activité

Mondo’s partner in Kenya is a local community organisation WEFOCO, comprising 25 self-help groups of 500 women. Western Focus Community Organisation is in Shianda, Western Kenya, and it mostly works supporting orphans, families suffering because of HIV/AIDS and helping generate incomes of those in need. There are currently 4 volunteers in Kenya working in different fields and there is a need for stronger communication in the organisation. These are the tasks of the volunteer in this position: Develop a social media strategy for WEFOCO, Create content for a one-page website for WEFOCO; Maintain the WEFOCO website and Social Media pages; Create a database for Wefoco activities’ communication files; Curating engaging content for Wefoco media channels;

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

The volunteer will live in Shianda village, Western Kenya, 30 minutes from Kakamega and one hour from Kisumu Airport. The host organisation will provide the volunteers’ safety and locked accommodation in the volunteers’ houses/apartments. They can have access to a kitchen and shower with all useful necessities: a water closet, tap, gas cooker, dishes, and Wi-Fi. The volunteer will be given a monthly living and transportation allowance.

Formation pendant l’activité

The volunteer will have the opportunity to get deep knowledge about working with local community groups and with the tailoring shop in rural Kenya. The training includes working in a local context and integrating with different communities. The volunteer can participate in local language courses. Volunteering will build new contacts and partnerships.

Profil du participant

We are looking for a social media and web-savvy volunteer to join our Communication Team: You are energetic, inventive and hard-working with ideas about creative ways to engage audiences in achieving the organization’s mission. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Enthusiasm for social media platforms and graphic design sites is a plus
