EVS in France ; activities with disable people

Foyer La Baraudelle is a day care center that provides specialized accommodation for adults suffering from physical or/and cerebral disability. The Centre is located in Attigny, a town of 1200 inhabitants. It is a rural area in the department of Ardennes, next to the Belgian border. Volunteer will assist in organizing or implementing leisure activities for the residents, for example, handicrafts, computer and cooking workshops, outings, games… S/He will also have the possibility to take part in activities in the educative farm (little farm with a horse, rabbits and production of vegetables) of the Centre. S/He will also support a mobile service to the disable people by going to the disable people with a worker of the organisation. Alojamiento, manutención y transporte

Volunteers will have their own rooms in a fully equipped house between the Centre and the farm. They will share the house with a volunteer doing an EVS in the Municipality of Attigny. The town of Attigny is quite remoted and there are few public transport. The volunteer can borrow the car of the centre. Otherwise, he will have to enjoy living in a rural environment.

Perfil del participante

Volunteer should be patient, empathic and responsible. S/He should like to help others, be willing to work with disabled people and have a good capacity to adapt. Basic knowledge of French is very helpful. Volunteer should be willing to live in the rural environment and like to be in contact with nature.
