Beskrivelse av organisasjon

The British Red Cross Society is part of the International Red Cross Movement, which aims to meet the needs of those in crisis and promote humanitarian values. We have over 21,000 volunteers supporting our service delivery in almost every community in the UK. The British Red Cross Society is a leading UK charity providing vital local services to build more resilient communities. Our vision is of a world where everyone gets the help they need in a crisis, and we operate in accordance with the 7 Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent movement - these are humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, unity, universality and voluntary service.

Our regular service provision includes First Aid and anti-stigma education; Independent Living Support and Crisis Response (support at home after hospital, patient transport, mobility aid loan service, emergency response in a national crisis); International Family Tracing (tracing, family reunification, advocacy), Refugee Support (destitution support, advice and support services, access to leisure), and international relief and development operation alongside our Red Cross partners overseas. Our services respond to current needs in local communities - so we work with both young people and the elderly, with British citizens and newcomers into our communities, with men and women from all walks of life. As a volunteering organisation, we actively work to ensure that our volunteering offer is inclusive to all and encourage and support people from all backgrounds, including those with disabilities and additional support needs, to join our volunteer teams across the UK.
