EIL (Experiment in International Living) is a registered charity based in Malvern, Worcestershire, and has existed in the UK since 1936. For 77 years we have been working with people from different cultures, breaking down barriers to mutual understanding and increasing cultural awareness. EIL is a member of a worldwide Federation with partners in 23 countries and we are recognised by the United Nations as a Peace Messenger organisation.

Each year, EIL works with hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds. Our aim is to break down cultural and social barriers between people, encouraging them to engage with and contribute to their local communities. We achieve this by providing opportunities for informal learning, training and cultural exchange. Our programmes include volunteering, individual homestays and group learning, and all our programmes involve intercultural training activities.

EIL has been working in the Young in Action programme, hosting, sending and training European Voluntary Service volunteers, since its inception in 1996. We also have had 3 approved Leonardo Mobility projects - Encounters 2009, Encounters 2010, and Encounters 2011.

Alongside local youth workers we work with young people providing learning opportunities which build their skills level in order to improve their life chances and to find employment.
