Description of organisation

The association LEGAMBIENTE VOLONTARIATO VERONA was formed in 1983 and joins the National Federation of Legambiente Volunteerism. The association organizes activities related to the promotion of active citizenship in the field of environmental protection and to the protection of the artistic and cultural heritage, being particularly focused against urban degradation and pollution emergency. In the activity of awareness, denunciation of degradation and organization of cultural and tourism initiatives, the association has also joined in the last decade direct actions for the protection of green areas and cultural assets involving directly citizens of Verona, Italian and international volunteers.

This particular function of Legambiente consists of daily care, cleaning and maintenance of green areas, monumental and cultural assets, public gardens with outbuildings for sports and recreation for public use and natural environments.

These activities are related to the assignment of the UNESCO 2000 Walls of the Walls. This recognition provides the association with an European and international dimension both in practice and in power.

The main permanent activities of the association are the following:

- preservation and management of a large area of ​​the ramparts of “Parco delle Mura” of Verona in agreement with AMIA Verona (Municipal Agency for Environmental Hygiene). These bastions, for years, an abandoned and degraded area, were finally cleaned, cared and valued by the group of volunteers who carry out ordinary and extraordinary maintenance activities;

- Participation in the National Legambiente Campaigns, such as "Clean up the World", "Salvalarte", "Climate Change", "Goletta dei Laghi", "Piccola Grande Italia" etc .;

- guided tours and urban trekking at the Park of the Walls;

- Studies of naturalistic and biological character in agreement with the Museum of Natural History of Verona.

  • This organisation is accredited to run projects under Erasmus+ Volunteering and the European Solidarity Corps.
  • This organisation holds a European Solidarity Corps Quality Label. The Quality Label certifies that the organisation is able to run projects in compliance with the principles and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
